dc.description Background: Intimate partner violence is one of the major public health problems in Ethiopia, which is associated with developmental, reproductive health problems. The prevalence of intimate partner violence is varying in HIV positive and negative women due to various reasons. The prevalence and associated factors of Intimate partner violence is not well studied in HIV positive and negative women separately as knowing separately helps for proper intervention. Objective: To assess the prevalence and associated factors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) among women living with and without HIV in Hawassa city public health facilities, Sidama region, Ethiopia,2022 Method: Institution based comparative cross-sectional study design used in selected health facilities from February 21 up to May 20 ,2022. Sample size determined using Epi info version 7. The facilities were selected by simple random method, and the sample allocated proportionally to selected facilities. Data was collected from 826 reproductive age group (18-49) women 411 from HIV positive women and 415 from HIV negative women. Systematic sampling method was used for both groups. Data was checked for completeness and consistency, then coded and entered to epidata version 3.1 and transported to STATA version 14 and SPSS version 25 for analysis. Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression was done. Result: The prevalence of life time IPV is 41.9% and 33.8% among HIV positive women and HIV negative women respectively. IPV in the last 12 months was 20.4 % and 17.1% in HIV positive and HIV negative women respectively. There was statistically difference intimate partner violence among HIV positive and negative women. Associated factors among HIV positive women include: partner involved in physical fight with other man, [AOR=2.57, 95% CI (1.35,4.99)], partner who drink alcohol, [AOR=2.2 ,95% CI (1.23,3.96)], factors among HIV negative include: age of sexual debut less than 18 years, [AOR=3.86,95% CI (1.32-11.32)], middle and high income, [AOR=0.14, 95% CI (0.05,0.34)], [AOR=0.04,95% CI (0.11,0.14)] respectively.
