dc.description.abstract Introduction: -Job satisfaction is an important determinant of health worker motivation, retention, and performance, all of which are critical to improving the functioning of health systems in low- and middle income countries. Objective: - This study was to determine level of job satisfaction and associated factors among healthcare workforces at four public hospitals of East Shao zone Oromia region. The estimated proportion of an attribute that was present in the population of job satisfaction (P) value of 47% was taken from the finding of a study done on job Satisfaction among healthcare in Sidama Zone Public Health Facilities, South Ethiopia. Methods: - A cross-sectional quantitative facility based study was employed among 383 randomly selected healthcare workforces at public hospitals of East Showa zone Oromia region, 2016. Data were collected by self-administered structured questionnaires. In addition, data was entered in to epi-info 7 and SPSS version 20. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was done for odds ratio with 95% confidence interval to assess the level of job satisfaction and associated factors. Results: - A total of 383 healthcare workforces were provided the self-administered questionnaire. Out of all of the distributed tools 99.22% were completed and returned back. Among study participants, 85% of the respondents were health care providers’ and15% supportive staffs. The overall level of job satisfaction among healthcare work force was 25%. The multivariate analysis finding of this study showed that work experience and all diploma and first degree nurses as well as all diploma and first degree laboratories professional categories of have significant association with their job satisfaction. Conclusion and Recommendation: - Healthcare workforce’s working at health facility had low level of job satisfaction. Only 25% of healthcare workforces were satisfied with their job in these health institutions. The study calls for a holistic approach in strengthening these factors considered to affect job satisfaction of health workers. .......................................
