Abstract

Low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) account for approximately 80% of the global population yet only 20% of worldwide healthcare expenditure. This disparity highlights critical healthcare challenges in Healthcare services, particularly in the availability and functionality of essential medical devices. Ethiopia, like many Sub-Saharan African nations, faces significant shortages, with over 90% of medical devices imported, often leading to issues with counterfeit products and equipment that remains non-functional due to inadequate maintenance and a shortage of skilled workforce.
