Abstract:
The WHO defines rehabilitation as “a set of interventions designed to optimize functioning and reduce
disability in individuals with health conditions, in interaction with their environment.” Rehabilitation
interventions optimize functioning and well-being by addressing impairments, limitations, and restrictions
in areas related to mobility, vision, and cognition while considering individual and environmental factors.
Individuals with health conditions or injuries may require rehabilitation across the course of their life and
along the continuum of care.
