Abstract:
Sleep disturbance is one of the most common health-related effects of shift-work particularly among health-care workers. Shift-work sleep disorder is a chronic condition that is directly related to a person’s work schedule. It is characterized by insomnia or sleepiness that occurs in association with shift-work. The major problems related to shift-work sleep disorder are adverse health consequences, diminished quality of life, diminished workplace performance and increased accidents and errors. Even though many studies are done in different parts of the world, there is lack of information on shift-work sleep disorder among nurses in the study area.
