Background: Thyroid gland diseases are one of the most common endocrine system diseases worldwide with goiter, which is anterior swelling of the thyroid gland, taking a major share. It is also endemic in countries like Ethiopia. Treatment options for goiter include medical treatment and thyroidectomy; partial or total surgical removal of the thyroid gland; which, like any other surgical procedure, is associated with general and procedure specific complications. |
