dc.description.abstract COVID 19 vaccine hesitancy is growing concern in the general population as well as in high risk subgroup of population like people living with HIV and becoming barrier in the control of COVID19. Knowing the magnitude of COVID 19 vaccine hesitancy and factor that are associated in such high risk group like HIV patient is mandatory in order to decrease the morbidity and mortality associated with COVID 19. Objectives: To determine the proportion of COVID19 vaccine hesitancy and associated factors among COVID19 vaccine unvaccinated HIV patients in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Methods: Facility based mixed study at Tirunesh Beijing general hospital (TBGH) ART follow up clinic. Total of 384 participants interviewed for quantitative part of the study and in depth interview done for 8 participants for the qualitative part. Quantitative part of the study analyzed using SPSS 20 and qualitative part data was coded and thematic analysis was performed with manually. Result: There were total of 384 participants, Mean age were 37.6 year and 61.82% of respondents were female. Proportion of COVID19 vaccine hesitancy were 70.3% with 95% CI (65.6-74.5%).At multivariable analysis good attitude towards COVID19 vaccine were 81.5% times less likely to be COVID19 vaccine hesitant (AOR =0.185(0.097-0.355)) compared to those who has poor attitude. Commonest Reason for refusal of the COVID19 vaccine was due to fear of HAART interaction with vaccine in 25% of the participants. Conclusion: There were high proportion of COVID19 vaccine hesitancy among COVID19 vaccine unvaccinated HIV patient in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Attitude related to COVID19 vaccine is associated with COVID19 vaccine hesitancy. Fear of the interaction of HAART with COVID19 vaccines was commonest stated reason for the COVID19 vaccine hesitancy.
