Abstract:
This SOP on perioperative nursing care has been written for nurse professionals who work in a
perioperative setting. It provides general guideline regarding the role of the surgical/general nurse
practitioner working in perioperative environment to the delivery of effective patient care. Thus, this will
serve key patient purposes: to provide a better understanding of the needs of surgical patient’s
preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperatively; and to provide insight into surgical interventions that
can affect patient outcome directly.
