<title>Institutional research policy</title>
<link>http://repository.iphce.org/xmlui/handle/123456789/5376</link>
<description>Institutional research policy
Armauer Hansen Research Institute
AHRI was initially established to investigate the pathogenesis and human immune responses to&#13;
leprosy. But now, it undertakes medical research in a wide range of diseases such as tuberculosis,&#13;
malaria, NTDs, HIV and other viruses, antimicrobial resistance, as well as various cancers and&#13;
other non-communicable conditions. In 2022, as a result of Proclamation Number 1263/2021&#13;
issued for the Definition of Powers and Duties of Executive Organs of the Federal Democratic&#13;
Republic of Ethiopia, the mandate of the research institute is expanded by including&#13;
responsibilities related with research, development and production of vaccines, diagnostics,&#13;
therapeutics, traditional medicine, nutraceutical and other pharmaceuticals. The Institute further&#13;
continues to be responsive to the challenges of emerging and reemerging diseases through&#13;
medical research and innovation.
