Based on health and nutrition priority areas, the Institute had been setting different strategies at different times to address the public health problem. Currently the Institute is focusing on priority disease research and strengthening the national public health laboratory services in the country. Moreover, the main target area of National Human ImmunoDeficiency Virus Reference laboratory (NHIVRL) is conducting HIV surveillance, Research,Capacity building, clinical chemistry test, Immunology & Hematological activities and advanced molecular techniques.
