Proceedings of AHRI’s annual scientific conference: Human Papillomavirus and cervical cancer: Bridging the evidence gap in Ethiopia and beyond
Armauer Hansen Research Institute
The 2025 AHRI Annual Scientific Conference served as a pivotal platform to address the rising
burden of human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer in Ethiopia. Aligned with the
WHO’s global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health threat by 2030, the event
brought together over 200 participants, including researchers, policymakers, healthcare
professionals, and partners. The forum offered a comprehensive review of Ethiopia’s progress,
challenges, and priorities in HPV and cervical cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and
research.
