National Infection Prevention and Control Policy
Ministry of Health
Infection prevention and control (IPC) is a comprehensive approach to prevent
morbidity and mortality in patients and healthcare workers (HCW) from transmissible
infectious diseases. The ultimate goal of IPC is to promote health care quality, which
is safe for patients, health care workers, others in the health care setting and the
environment. Developing an IPC policy and strategy provides a framework to develop
and implement guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve the
quality of healthcare in healthcare facilities.
