<description>Pattern of heart disease in children at University of Gondar comprehensive specialized hospital, Northwest Ethiopia, 2021
Tamene Habtu
Pediatric Cardiac disease is one of the most common causes of morbidity and mortality in children. Most pediatric cardiac problems in developed nations are from Congenital Heart Diseases (CHD) where as Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) is still the challenge for developing nations. In Ethiopia, few single centered studies were done in major teaching hospitals to estimate the burden and pattern of cardiac disease in children, but in our setup its pattern is not yet known, hence the study was intended to know it’s pattern at University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital.

<description>Survival and predictors of mortality among under-five children with severe acute malnutrition admitted to University of Gondar comprehensive specialized hospital, North-west Ethiopia, 2017
Fasil Wagnew
Globally, approximately 19 million children under 5 years are suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition. Severe acute malnutrition is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in low income countries, notably Ethiopia. Despite the fact that little is known about survival and predictors of mortality among children with severe acute malnutrition.

<description>Breastfeeding technique and associated factors among lactating mothers visiting Gondar town health facilities, Amhara Regional State, Northwest Ethiopia, 2020
Boko Loka
Breastfeeding technique th - March 20 th , 2020. An observational checklist and structured intervieweradministered questionnaire was used with systematic random sampling technique. Double data entry were conducted with Epi-Data 4.6 version and exported to SPSS version 20 for analysis. Bi-variable and multivariable logistic regressions were used to identify the association between dependent and independent variables. Association was measured by using odd ratios with 95% CI and p-value of ? 0.05 was used for final interpretation. Result: A total of 410 mother-infant pairs were observed; with a response rate of 99%. The proportion of effective BFT was 48%. The likelihood of applying proper BFT was reduced among age group &lt;20 compared to age group &gt;30 years. The odds of effective BFT in primipara mothers were 49% lower compared to multiparous mothers. Likewise, the likelihood of effective BFT was 0.45 Conclusion: Just below half of women attending public health facilities in the study area have applied proper BFT. Younger maternal age

<description>Survival and its predictors among pre-term neonates admitted to neonatal intensive care unit at Felege Hiwot referral hospital, Northwest Ethiopia (from 2014-2018)
Demeke Mesfin
Nearly 15 million preterm births have happened every year globally. It accounts for about 1 million neonatal deaths in the world per year. Similarly, it is the second cause of neonatal mortality in Ethiopia. Therefore, this study was aimed at identifying determinants of preterm mortality in Felege Hiwot referral hospital, Northwest Ethiopia. Objectives: To assess mortality rate and its predictors among preterm neonates admitted to neonatal intensive care unit at Felege Hiwot referral hospital, Bahirdar, Northwest Ethiopia from 2014 – 2018. Methods: Institution based retrospective cohort study was conducted among preterm neonates admitted in Bahirdar city, Felege Hiwot referral Hospital, neonatal intensive care unit from 2014-2018. Secondary data was abstracted from 542 randomly selected charts using facility based data abstraction form. After clearing and checking completeness of data, it was entered by Epi info version 7 and exported to STATA version 14, for cleaning, coding, transformation and analysis. Cox proportional hazard model was used for analysis. Kaplan Meier curves and Log-rank test was used to estimate survival time and to compare statistical differences between categories of variables respectively. Hazard ratio with a 95% confidence interval was calculated and a statistical significance was accepted at Keywords: Preterm neonates, Mortality rate, Predictors, Ethiopia
